How to get the recent modified time stamp of a .page file

Hi ,

I have this requirement to add the datestamp on all .page file which will update based on the last date that page was changed.

Initially started off to write a javascript inside my component (which all these page have) but this did not work out

document.writeln("Last Modified: " + lastmod);

The above script is printing the current date and time stamp every time when the page loads. So i left this option to use JS, Then tried to get the current page name

$PAGE_LINK[.]
<script>
var pageInfo = '';
</script>
[/PHP]

so that with this input I may pull out the details of the page using some external call. can we use perl for a external call or should we have java to handle this Can any one feed in some ideas to acheive this functionality

No you can't use PERL. Externals can only call Java objects (unless you're using LiveSite for .NET).

In Java using the LiveSite API, you can obtain that info like this:

// where 'context' is the LiveSite RequestContext object
FileDal dal = context.getFileDal();
String path = dal.getRoot() + "/sites/" + context.getSite().getName() +
"/" + context.getPageName() + ".page";
Date modDate = dal.getLastModifiedDate(path);
[/PHP]

Edit: Note that this reads the file's timestamp, so depending on your OD rules, it may be the timestamp of the most recent deployment, not the timestamp of the most recent edit in TeamSite.
