LSCS Authoring missing URI Aliases

LSCS Authoring 7.3.1

Following an alleged successful install, the test deployment to the preview instance of LSCS Authoring on the TeamSite server repeatedly fails at the import adaptor phase.

This looks to be down to the fact that URI Aliases for the various LSCS actions are not configured within the webapp in JBoss.

did you verify if lscs instance is running at all before trying to deploy?
do you get anything when you hit? http://hostname:8080/lscs/admin/debugpanel/

in my case lscs is running on port 8080, check livesite_custmer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer/content.properties for your lscs authoring configurations.

if it is not running, check your server.xml and verify that lscs context is defined and pointing to the correct info.

What files are you trying to deploy? have you tried deploying a default.site file ?

Just trying to deploy an xml file (with attributes) from the testauth branch as per the manual test procedure.

The problems is that the lscs webapp, for some reason, looks like it failed to install correctly and provide a "web.xml" type servlet mapping of the various URI aliases.

So when we hit /import or /projects , lscs does not recognise that as a valid action or URI and bombs out.

I would expect to see a web.xml (or similar) in the lscs WEB-INF directory with a load of URI aliases or servlet mappings

There are a load of xml context files containing URI information, there are some references to URIs that work

e.g. /document found in predefined-alias-context.xml

hostname:8080/lscs/v1/document$?q=*:*

(this returns nothing at the moment) but at least its a recognised Alias

But I cant find any references to /import or /projects at this level.

I would expect these to come "out of the box" and not to have to set up custom Aliases for standard functionality.

I am going to try and create some custom aliases to see how it blows up

The deployments actually work i.e. the files are transfered to the target area but then the lscs adaptor for import fails in the same manner...

Final post:

It seems that Autonomy have removed the concept of a "preview" instance of LSCSA on the TeamSite server without thoroughly updating the documentation for 7.3.1

You need the runtime LSCS instance available in order to test and run deployments to LSCS.

The "startdeploy.sh" script for running area-diff deployments will not run in preview mode and you will not be able to index into a local LSCSAuthoring instance on the teamSite server.

Until Autonomy come back with a statement as to why they have removed this, we have to make use of the "runtime" LSCS instance for any queries.

Not a massive problem, but basically invalidates any previewing of LSCS generated content within TeamSite, unless you hardwire the component to always use "runtime".

One might argue this is a major problem.

The preview in CMS is now broken for components that use LSCS. You have to publish your page to a runtime environment for preview... Not Good

I am not certain if this is a new policy by A/I or a bug I have hit as well as MMB. Talking to Crsb, his 7.3.1 works as expected and AFAIK, he did NOT install the LSCS runtime server on the TS server.

I havn't installed 7.3.1 yet but clients who are using previous versions of TS that use SitePub preview LSDS and LSCS would be shocked to learn that preview environment is not there for LSCS in 7.3.1

Are you sure content is being deployed correctly to LSCS? Have you checked your OD adapter logs for errors?

That is the point, the deploymetns fail becasue the URI import is missing.

The files get moved and when the adapter tries to run, it fails and rolls everything back.

I have had a support case open for weeks now with Support and they have not been able to confirm anything other than the predefined-aliases.xml is different between 7.2.1 and 7.3.1.

Hopefully a 7.3.2 release or patch will sort this out.

Have you tried copying the 7.2.1 predefined-aliases to you 7.3.1 server ? I plan to on Friday when I have access to a 7.2.1 instance of LSCS
