How to do logging in DataSource frame work classes.

HI All,

I used my custom log class in DataSource Frame work,but the Datasource class is working fine but my log file not updated.

But my custom log class is working fine when i used in other JavaTupleProcessor classes.

Is there anyway to do logging for DataSource classes,if yes which log it uses when we enable logging?

You should provide a code sample. However, it's safe to say that your code for the tuple processor (opendeploy) might not transfer directly to a datasource (teamsite) because the products are built differently.

In TeamSite, you want to use commons logging:

public class MyClass {
  private static final Log LOGGER = LogFactory.getLog(MyClass.class);

  /* ... */

  public void myFunction() {
    if (LOGGER.isDebugEnabled()) {
      LOGGER.debug("Entering myFunction()");
    }
    /* ... */
  }
}

These messages would end up in server.log and/or content_center.log, depending on how your log4j.xml is set up.

I am using this Datasource class in my datacapture.cfg file.

how can we know whether the debug is enabled or not and also how can we know whether it is either server.log or contnet_center.log file?

By default, logging for custom code is set to 'error' or higher.

You can change this permanently via the content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/customer/log4j.xml.

You can change it temporarily (until the next AC restart) via http://server/iw-cc/command/iw.base.loggers

I need to run make_toolkit.ipl to reflect the changes,right?

Andl also custom.log file not yet created,will it automatically create or need to create manually?

Yes you need to run make_toolkit.ipl

You also may need to play with the logger name attribute (I had issues with using the '.*' at the end the last time I did something like this, but it could have easily been a series of issues that caused that problem)

There should definitely not be a ".*" at the end there. The sample comment they have in there by default is wrong.

The AppContainer will create the file at startup if it doesn't exist.
