iw-store copy in order to complate migration

Hi All,

I hope this finds you well.

Could you please guide me what is the best approach we should follow in order to copy the iw-store which is present on the same server where the TS installed but in a different drive or folder?

1. copy using the XCOPY commend?

2. Window copy?

Please add the best approach.

Stop TeamSite fully. Make sure the permission on the source drive and the destination drive the same.

Use XCOPY to copy it to a different drive. Or you can tools like rsync, DeltaCopy extra which works from the command line.

I would prefer command line as its less resource intensive.

And before you start TeamSite from the new drive, make changes in the registry and iw.cfg to point to the new store location.

Before you copy the backing store - run iwfsck on it (using the -b flag if it's not the currently configured store) - check the results to make sure there are no errors.

If there are errors, let us know - but more importantly, open a ticket with Support.

Assuming there are no errors, then (as noted) stop TeamSite, copy the store to the desired location (*more on this in a second*) and then - before starting TeamSite, again perform the iwfsck (this time you should not need the -b flag, assuming that you're copying it into the location that TS is looking for it)

Again, if there are errors, let us know - but more importantly, open a ticket with Support.

You say you're completing a migration. Is this just a directory-migration (same server, no upgrade)? A server-migration (different server, no upgrade)? or an upgrade-migration (same or different server, newer version of TeamSite)?

The answer to the above may help in terms of us being able to provide sound advice.

In addition to running iwfsck you should also run iwfsshrink to get rid of duplicates.

Hi,

What is the version of Teamsite. If TS version is TS 732 then it is fine, if it is 7.X and less than 7.3.2, do not run iwfsshrink. It has some bugs which may lead to store corruption. You can contact HP support for more information
