purge index error
Haiyan
When I tried to run iwndxpurge command to purge an indexed branch, I am getting error: failure error 1002 detail: the collection for branch could not be purged. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks.

This can happen when your indexed data got corrupted or out of synch. Try deleting the collection manually and restart search/idol and indexer, remember to remove the branch from branches.cfg. You can also try before deleting the collection iwndxrefreshbr to get event based updates pending at Database and then try purging it.

Thanks, but how do I manually delete the collection? Sorry for the dumb questions.

sorry for the delayed response
I used to delete all .idx, .dat, .db files manually from ../Search/temp/idx directory and from idol and then recycle search and indexer services, but now in newer versions like 7.3.x may be since 7.1 I"m not sure though they have web based utility to do the same stuff.
This will delete all branches indexes and when you run indexer it should give not indexed status for all branches. I'm quite not sure if we have an option just to set Initial for a particular branch.
You would do this by running the following in a browser:
http://:IndexPort/DREINITIAL
The IndexPort by default should be 9001, so if this wasn't changed during install that should be ok.
After this, you'll need to go and run iwndxstatus -a to see if the branches are now shown to not be indexed, and run iwndxrefreshbr branchpath to reindex them. Alternatively you could stop/start the services at this point as that should cause the Indexer to look through all branches for reindexing. Hope this helps.
