TeamSite Config File Questions

Hi:

I'm involved with a TS upgrade from 6.5 to 7.4.1. I have listed some config and other files below with my understanding of the purpose of each. Could anyone confirm or correct my descriptions? It's not that I didn't RTFM. I have a question or two of how these files work together. Thanks.

Administration
iw-home\conf\tsgroups.xml
Contains local TeamSite groups and attributes

iw-home\conf\roles\iwcache.xml
Caches LDAP/AD groups and TeamSite users' memberships to them

iw-home\conf\roles\tsusers.xml
Contains local and LDAP/AD TeamSite users and some top-level attributes

iw-home\conf\roles\roles.xml
Contains default and custom TeamSite roles as well as the operations permitted by each

Content and Workflow
iw-home\local\config\templating.cfg
Maps template data objects to presentation templates (.tpl files), branches, etc.

iw-home\local\config\datacapture.cfg
Contains metadata and validation rules about data points to be captured in TeamSite forms

iw-home\local\config\wft\available_templates.cfg
Identifies and maps workflow templates (WFTs) to branches, roles, commands

iw-home\local\config\wft\email_map.cfg
Maps TeamSite users to email attributes for workflow emal notification

iw-home\local\config\wft\workflow-group-mapping.xml
Maps TeamSite branches and page/auto-generate specifications

You are pretty good.

email_map is typically not ued anymore. It is used when you use the old WFT and the TS 6.5 tools to send emails.

available_templates.xml is only for WFT, so if you are using WFB, that is not needed either.

If you're using WFB (workflow builder) you should go shoot yourself ;-)

If you're using WFM (workflow modeler), it's configured in available_models.xml which is maintained in the /iwadmin store and usually managed through the TeamSite Admin UI.

I would make the following correction:

iw-home\local\config\templating.cfg
Configures FormsPublisher category and data-types for use within TeamSite (depending on certain settings, you may have to explicitly specify the branch, and you may want to specify other limitations). It does configure which PTs (TPL or XSL) are available for use with a given data-type through the GUI (you can run iwpt_compile.ipl with a non-configured PT as well).

iw-home\local\config\datacapture.cfg
Contains metadata and validation rules about data points to be captured in TeamSite Metadata Capture forms (This is for the old metadata capture UI, the new TagUI uses files in a distinct directory under IWHOME/local/config/...)

As far as I know, this is not an OOTB configuraton file - i.e.: it is custom to your implementation - as such I have no idea what it is used for / where it is used.
