Branch level sharing Content across Two Workareas.

HI,

My requirement is as follows.

We have two workareas in a branch. In Master workarea we have lot of content like dcrs, images,..; In the second workarea it having some limited content specific to some site.

Now we want to use the dcrs from master workarea in our second workarea along with second workarea dcrs,content.

Without duplication of dcrs we need to do this.
can you suggest any optimal way .
I have tried using proxy remap/redirect but not getting any results...

If you're talking about two workareas on the same branch having decidedly different content - you're misusing the product and heading for tons of headaches.

If you're talking about two different workareas, each on a different branch - please verify so we'll know it's not the other issue.

B{DCRs}-----set of DCRs from work area 2

first work area

A{DCRs}
Sites
Pages -----use content from A{DCRs}

Second workarea

B{DCRs}
Sites
Pages ---use content from A{DCRs} + B{DCRs}

I have read in forum about some remap/redirect in iw.cfg file .. .. But not clear about how to use..

You are proposing to have distinct content in distinct workareas on the same branch.

STOP!

This will not work in the long-term and will likely cause problems in the short-term too.

This is NOT the way TeamSite was designed to be used.
This is documented as unsupported for LiveSite / SitePublisher.

One of the dire consequences of this approach is at some point when you do get latest you will end up with either unwatned content or plung in to unresolvable/unidentifable content conflicts

@suryakiran: To clarify that statement, your unsupported approach is such a bad idea, that you're not only giving up support by Autonomy but you're likely not going to get any help from devnet users either. I suggest you state your requirements for wanting to do this in the first place, and surely we can help you find an approach that would be supported.

You want two branches, then you need to create something so the A + B branch is updated with the A dcrs

Why not use this:

Parent Branch
---->Parent Worakrea -> Put re usable assets here

-------->Child branch
-------------->Child Workarea -> Put branch specific code here.

Even you can manage this requirement in same workarea only. Design folder structure such way that it will look like different hierarchy and set the permission at folder level.
but two different workarea in same branch will not solve your purpose.

Hi. browsing across workareas is something that is not supported out of the box. there are code tweaks for hat but i would not recommend it. I can give you some code for reference. However, coming to your query, you need to remember that all paths browsed are workarea relative. so even if you end up browsing anything, you would be seeing relative paths.does the relative path in your parent workarea map to a parent level on the runtime environment?

I am thinking one approach now .

I am not sure what changing the path here would imply. You can take a look at the filebrowser in the datacapture and try to tweak the vpath in it and the callback method in it to browse across workareas. Then again, paths browsed would be relative to workareas. Be careful about your runtime architecture before you think of implementing this.
