UI Customization - possible to disable a menu option based on path?

I think I know the answer to this, but am tossing it out there in case there's a chance it can be done without a whole lot of recoding default UI behavior.

I'd like to be able to disable the File->Rename menu option if the user is within a certain path in the workarea. If the user is not within that specific path, the File->Rename should be available to use again.

Possible with the basic UI Customization tools they give us? I don't want to recode the Rename operation. Just change the behavior of the menu option.

I'm pretty sure you cannot do it without doing a bit of coding - but you may be able to do it more easily than you're thinking.

Why not? There is a rename URL listed in the UI Customization Guide. Is that not what you're talking about?

The rename URL in the UICG is supported - however it doesn't provide a UI (to prompt what you want to rename the file or directory to) - the OOTB menu URL (which you could probably figure out by right-clicking or hovering or something) is what I was referring to as not being officially supported for custom implementation purposes (seems silly to me, but I'm just letting you know)

That is so Interwoveny. I am just shaking my head. I think we are just going to try and train the customers not to use rename for those DCRs.
