replace all spaces in a Teamsite Page URL with a + sign

Hi All,

 

I want to replace all spaces(currently %20) in a Teamsite Target URL with a + sign. Is there any config file or something equivalent to that , where we can modify this code change.

 

Kindly let us know if anyone has worked on this type of requirement.

A space and a plus are very distinct characters, as much as search engines and javascript would like to make you think otherwise. Your requirement just doesn't make sense from a pure-web perspective, if you stick to the actual HTTP and URI specifications, and you won't find a configuration flag in LiveSite that just "fixes" this.

 

The real solution is to educate your content authors on the topic of naming conventions. Spaces are valid in Windows, but you don't usually find them in URLs. So if you rename your pages to use hyphens instead of spaces (which is the more international and SEO-friendly convention), then your problem goes away.

 

However, if you insist, I suppose you could write a Servlet Filter that would translate '+' to '%20' on the way in and change page links to do the opposite conversion. But that's non-trivial effort for something that can be solved with user training.
