MetaTagger crashes frequently!

Has anyone ever seen this issue before? any help much appreciated.
I have a support case open for this issue, after countless calls with the support folks, it looks like either i will have to fix this issue myself Or write my own version of MetaTagger!

MetaTagger, Release 4.0 on Windows Server.
Below is the ONLY log entry found in the mtserver_9095.log for this issue.
1325024212 lvl0 thread1: [SERVER] Unknown exception.
1325024212 lvl5 thread1: Response:
result
[SERVER] Unknown exception.
Tagging service from TeamSite does NOT respond to any calls unless the MetaTagger service is bounced. This happens several times a week, causing considerable damage to the overall stability of the publishing platform.
Becomes a real pain, when the service goes down in the middle of the night/early morning/off hours, and get called from different parts of the world!

Did you fix this one or any workaround? We are having similar issue where we keep bouncing service as a temporary fix.
Just hope there is a permanent fix to it.

I have had the same issue before, and same story to share - after multiple calls, live working sessions and log/config sharing with support team, we were still at the square one.
As a work around, we put together a script on the server to
1) Splunk the log to monitor lvl0 entry.
2) whenever there are more than a pre-set # of lvl0, automatically kill and start all the metatagger processes.
This work around has kept the MetaTagger up and running without outages for the past 6months or so.
* MetaTagger was a critical piece in the publishing process, with several hundreds of pages published every hour, we couldn't afford MetaTagger to go down as frequent as it did.
Thanks,
Sivaram

Wow, Metatagger hasn't been retired yet? The last update to that product was a long, long, long time ago.... Hard to imagine people still using it.
