Checking the file stream of attached documents

I have an external task (written in perl)
where i check parse the attached dcrs to do some processing. The problem for me is the users can attach graphics to the same workflow.If i get a graphic i do not
want to be doing any processing.Is there a command line in teamsite which tells if the attached file is a dcr or not.
Pl let me know.
