Changing password of Teamsite Installed User (one of the admin) on Windows Teamsite Server 7.3.2

I have gone through couple of threads in the same forum regarding this but no conclusion hitting bulls eye. Thought would take experts inputs before breaking something big time on our server.

We have installed Teamsite using a local user id with admin previliges which was created by our server administrators . Due to new security measures we are forced to change the password.

Is there any impact on TeamSite server changing the password of this user id.

Environment . Teamsite 7.3, Windows.

Note : we donot have any scripts pwds hard corded, donot have any schedulers with the password embedded in it.

What products are you using ?

For TeamSite specifically there is no issue. However there are a couple of places in the install that want a PW, one is for IIS (though usually it is not the admin user). Another is the WF deployments for LSCS.

So you may see that WFs start failing (though I have never had that problem), I suspect you are clear.

One more place to check is, If you start TeamSite service using this Admin user, you might need to update the password there.

Yes we use Livesite. Any help in looking at where it is been hardcoded.

As far as IIS, I see only a virtual directory TeamSiteSitePubPreview. Other than that nothing I see.

IIS tends to use an "anonymous user" account for accessing information in the iw-mount virtual directory. This account is, I believe, a member (the only member) of the "TeamSite Web Preview" group; it should not be the administrative account used to install TeamSite so it should not be an issue for you.

Hi,

The path of the file is \Interwoven\LiveSiteCSAuth\authoring\etc\deployment\config\deployment-source.properties. The username and password is hardcoded in this file. This user can be any teamsite user using which the LSCS deployment will be executed when run from command line.

During installation of the Teamsite and LSCS it will ask you for this username. If it is the same user you used during the installation, then you will need to change in this file aslo.

You are right Kalam. However the password is encoded. Is there any procedure to generate this encoded password.

I am afraid any more such instances of the password and breaking the system if I change the password. Ghoti, Andy, nipper any thoughts pls.

There is a script you can use:

..../LiveSiteCSAuth/install/scripts/encryptpassword.sh

Hi Shameem,

You can use the utility /LiveSiteCSAuth/install/scripts/encryptpassword.sh to encrypt the password as Andy suggested.

No other places will have the user/password hardcoded unless you have hardcoded in some scripts or cssdk client .Since you are on windows, you can also check the TS service account if it is running with this account. Generally TS service will run using the system account but you can check once.
