Getting the filename & extension of doc from Worksite when you only have doc no

Hi,
Im trying to find out if there is a api call I can make using the document number and version number to get the full filename including extension from Worksite.
i.e. if I pass it 1234567 version 1, I get back filename.extension

Im assuming this detail is stored somewhere in the schema to represent where the document is stored on the filestore anyway?

Im trying to see if I only have the doc no and version number, whether I can make a call to Worksite to get its filename and extension because at this point I do not know whether the document is a word or excel doc or withether its a 2003 version of 2010 version.

Hi Anna

From memory, the real file name in use in the Worksite file store is not available via the API. Typically when you download a document (say via the Word integration) it will automatically generate a file name based on the document number, version number and the file extension associated with the Type (application) of the document.

So in fact you need to examine the "Type" property of the IManDocument. This tells you the application that is associated with the document.

For example with Word documents the type might be WORD for Word 2003, and it might be WORDX for 2007+

Of course the Type value is fairly arbitrary. There's nothing stopping you profiling a document with completely the wrong Type value associated with the actual file, although the FileSite, DeskSite and Office integration clients do a pretty good job of detecting the appropriate value from the file being imported.
