dynamically set component parameter

Hi,

I am trying to set the component parameter dynamically through java code.

This is my content XML

[/html]

i could able to get the component object in the java code using
context.getThisComponent();

could some one please give me a hint to set the value of "ProductDCRName" through java code.

If you are using External (class) you can easily get request parameters using context.getParameterString("") with the name of parameter.

If you want, dynamically fetch DCR content then you can build DCR path and read then return same document object to your component's external class and render the content in your xsl code.

Yes.. I am using external to get the parameter.

This is what i am doing currently.

1) I have a component which reads the DCR based on the page name. This is done using externals. Since i am reading DCR dynamically based on page name, i could not able to do a in-context edit in the page edit mode.

to have in-context felicity , i think we need to have this DCR as a parameter to the component.

Now i want to set this DCR as a external parameter to a component using javacode.

If i understand correctly, you want ICE in external driven DCR content.
ICE enabling is part of XSL coding.

I could use ICE only if i get the DCR in the vpath .

I am not browsing any DCR in the component, instead i am pragmatically identifying the DCR and fetching it's content and forming the resultant XML.

There is no where , i am giving the reference of DCR in the component.

This makes , ICE not possible on page. To make it possible, i just need to add DCR path in the external parameter .

Since i am forming DCR path dynamically , i would have to set this value to the parameter i defined in my external. i.e., 'ProductDCRName'

I tried the below code , but is not working .


   ParameterHash hash = context.getParameters();  
   hash.put("ProductDCRName", "templatedata\content\product-details\data\product.dcr");
   context.setParameters(hash);

In that case i think you should use generator to set dynamic value in datum based on your page value.
So, instead of using external class you can use generator class that will fill the dynamic dcr name and based on that you can use ICE in your xsl code.
(I am not sure but you can try in this way.)

Generators throws exception when used for Datum of type DCR. I think we can only use it for 'SingleSelect" Type.

Not that I have the answer for you, but to be more accurate - I think - you want to set the value of

//Datum[@Name='ProductDCRName']/DCR

I think 'No', but you can try in external class based on your defined conditions and fetch that DCR content then return as XML to XSL. Now in XSL you can render the returned XML and try to add in-context-edit="true" in particular div. Like below code:

your are correct ghoti.

The component which we have , will pick the DCR automatically based on the page name. this DCR content is emitted in section of resultant XML through java code.
This makes impossible to have ICE on page for this component's DCR content.

Hence my approach is to , set the Datum parameter in external to this DCR, so that i can use that property for ICE.

if you know any other approach , please me know.
