New environment in PLC workflow

g2svnit

Hi All,

I am using teamsite 7.2.1 and I am trying to add new node (staging) in my PLC workflow. I have read many existing posts and come to the following conclusion:

1. Save as this OOTB workflow with different name.
2. Open custom_instantiation.cfg file in config folder and add a new target node.
3. Save and submit this file.
4. Add new map entry for DataDeploy configuration in livesite-database.xml for new DB.
5. Add new entry for staging in lscs_authoring.xml ()

6.Add new map entry for staging in livesite_customer_src/etc/livesite_customer/resources/customer-teamsite-resource-config.xml

7. reset the server.

My question is, does entry in livesite-database.xml, lscs_authoring.xml and customer-teamsite-resource-config.xml will be automatically detect by workflow based on node selected in instantiation scree (if consistancy is maintained in node name value), or some property files need to be updated for the same.
Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here (doing it first time!)

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jitendra

You're missing at least one (or perhaps more accurately, two) very important step(s):

There's a bug in 7.2.1 (vanilla) that prevents it from working with more than the OOTB target nodes of "preview" and "production".

Many Thanks for reply!

I already installed Teamsite patch 1 and Livesite patch 1. I was just not sure about configuration/Property files.

After you make changes to files in livesite_customer_src/ folder , run the build.bat / build.sh script to deploy your file to ApplicationContainer . build script should reset teamsite also, if it doesn't then reset TS after build script completes. In PLC workflow, just check the DeploymentTargetNodes script variable if it is adding the environments selected. It includes 'development' node by default and also adds nodes selected by user as a comma separated list.

Hi All,

I took care of everything mentioned above and added new environment in PLC workflow, but still I am getting error (attached content_center log file) while executing the it for new environment, please see the attached log file.

This doesn't address your problem, per se, but there is an extra step for the TeamSite 7.2.1 Patch 1 that isn't documented - which may cause problems for you down the road (and might, though doubtful, have something to do with your current issue).

You have to find and un-pack (using jar) the teamsite_admin.tk.war file - replace the sci_hopi.jar file in the WEB-INF/lib directory with the one that came with Patch-1, then re-pack (using jar) the teamsite_admin.tk.war file and run iwreset -a.

The general symptoms that you'll see if you don't do the above, is errors with creating dependencies when you save DCRs or when you try to create a new Site.

Hi ghoti,

Thanks for the reply, I implemented the step you mentioned, but still stuck with my current problem Smiley Sad

Don't know, what is wrong here. I tried changing database user in livesite_database.xml file also, but that didn't help.

I did some detailed analysis and gathered the logs for both the nodes (one that is working fine, development, and one giving the error, certification). Below is the difference that I saw in the logs:

For "development" node (the one which is working fine):
2013-02-19 01:49:20,631 INFO [STDOUT] [DEBUG] 01:49:20 BaseDeploymentService - deployFiles: initializing asynchronous file deployment. context: hdaens4m
2013-02-19 01:49:20,631 INFO [STDOUT] [DEBUG] 01:49:20 BaseDeploymentService - buildDeploymentList: building deployments for target node: development
2013-02-19 01:49:20,643 INFO [STDOUT] [DEBUG] 01:49:20 BaseDeploymentService - buildDeploymentList: targetNode: development, added deployment: DataDeployment{ImageMetadata}
2013-02-19 01:49:20,722 INFO [STDOUT] [DEBUG] 01:49:20 BaseDeploymentService - buildDeploymentList: targetNode: development, added deployment: LSCSDeploymentImpl{ImageMetadata}

For "certification" node (the one with error):
2013-02-19 01:29:45,241 INFO [STDOUT] [DEBUG] 01:29:45 BaseDeploymentService - deployFiles: initializing asynchronous file deployment. context: hdaens4j
2013-02-19 01:29:45,241 INFO [STDOUT] [DEBUG] 01:29:45 BaseDeploymentService - buildDeploymentList: building deployments for target node: certification
2013-02-19 01:29:45,254 INFO [STDOUT] [ERROR] 01:29:45 DeploymentWebTask - Error during task execution: Could not invoke method: deployFiles, reason: null
java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not invoke method: deployFiles, reason: null

I am not sure if I am, missing any configuration.

Thanks,
Jitendra

Well, you must be missing something ...

Quick verification: what do you see when you type:

% iwversion
% iwodcmd -v

I don't recall what platform you're on - but assuming Unix (adjust as needed for Windows) - what do you see when you type:

% grep development ODHOME/etc/odnodes.xml
% grep certification ODHOME/etc/odnodes.xml

% grep development .../LiveSiteCSAuth/authoring/etc/deployment/config/lscs-authoring.xml
% grep certification .../LiveSiteCSAuth/authoring/etc/deployment/config/lscs-authoring.xml

% grep development IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer/database.properties
% grep certification IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer/database.properties

g2svnit

Hi ghoti,

My environment is windows 2008.

Below are the output of commands you asked for:

iwversion: 7.2.1 Build Patch - 16787 Interwoven 20120815
iwodcmd -v : Version 7.2.1.0.0 Build 11 Interwoven 20101025

% grep development ODHOME/etc/odnodes.xml
% grep certification ODHOME/etc/odnodes.xml
My odnodes.xml does not have direct entry for development/certification, its through internal farm set in openDeployWebRoot.xml file.

% grep development .../LiveSiteCSAuth/authoring/etc/deployment/config/lscs-authoring.xml
% grep certification .../LiveSiteCSAuth/authoring/etc/deployment/config/lscs-authoring.xml

development lscsContext="lscs" lscsRuntimeTransport="http" lscsRuntimeHostname="localhost" lscsRuntimePort="8080" destinationArea="D:/LSCSAuth-Store" destinationNode="localhost"
certification lscsContext="lscs" lscsRuntimeTransport="http" lscsRuntimeHostname="localhost" lscsRuntimePort="1876" destinationArea="D:/LSCSRT-Store" destinationNode="LSCSCertRuntime"
(LSCSCertRuntime is mapped to certtification runtime in odnodes.xml)

% grep development IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer/database.properties

development.driverClassName=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
development.url=jdbc:sqlserver://#######:1433;databaseName=IWTS2010
development.username=IWTS2010iwsitepub
development.password=ENC(4wFtlXqCdcTgtknE/WDiJ2IjgapXgwS1)

% grep certification IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer/database.properties

There is no entry for certification in database.properties file and when I manually try to add the entry and build TeamSite, build got failed.

I found one error in my Implementation, I did some mistake in adding bean reference in customer-teamsite-resource-config.xml file (earlier I added one map entry in existing bean for production). I corrected the error and tried to build the server, but build was uncessfull then also. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong in customer-teamsite-resource-config.xml which is giving error in server build, or there is any dependency of this file which is causing error. Thanks,
Jitendra

I don't have time to look at all of this right now - sorry - but:

My environment is windows 2008.

Below are the output of commands you asked for:

iwversion: 7.2.1 Build Patch - 16787 Interwoven 20120815

I don't know what the proper output is for Windows, for Linux it's "iwserver: 7.2.1 Build 114 Interwoven" - maybe someone else can verify the proper output for Windows?

The iwodcmd -v output looks correct.

sahu

Just post openDeployWebRoot.xml, it is configuration issue.

g2svnit

Hi Sahu,

I am attaching openDeployWebRoor file in the post, but I don't understand the reason of error in TeamSite build when I update customer-teamsite-resource-config.xml for new node entry.

Kindly advice.

Thanks,
Jitendra

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest something, I am still stuck with the error Smiley Sad
