Changing Workarea Owner From a User To An AD Group

Hi:

I'm using TeamSite 7.4.1 in a Windows environment with Active Directory. When our workareas were created, they were assigned ownership of a single user, tsMaster. However, each workarea needs to be owned by an AD group. As a result, no TeamSite users (all of whom belong to AD groups) besides a master can submit content to workflows.

From within the TeamSite UI, it doesn't look like there is a way to change a workarea owner from a user to a group after the workarea has been created. Is there a utility or other scripted method to do so? Thanks.

There is not really a group owner. It is always a user (tsadmin, iwmaster, etc) but the sharing is group available and that can be changed.

I may not be describing this correctly. We are upgrading from TS 6.5. When I click on the properties link of the workarea in 6.5, I can see the following:

Workarea Properties: WAM_US_WA

Sharing:	Group
Owner:	WAM\tsMaster
Group:	WAM\IUsers-WAM_US

There is an AD group assigned to the 6.5 workarea. There is no such associated group to the corresponding workarea in our 7.4 install, and that is what I'm looking to assign.

Is this a server or a 7.4.1 server ?

When I click properties on a 732 workarea, I have a sharing option for group or individual, and owner/group selections that can be changed. What role are you ?

You're right. Thanks for pointing this out. This is a BDAC error (between desk and chair). I do have the Sharing option. I opened the modal to assign this workarea's corrpesponding AD group, but it is not coming up when I search. However, if I look in my iwcache.xml file, it does exist. I'm looking for AD group WAM\IUsers-WAM_US.

Do I have my connection to AD possibly incorrect?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't show up in search.. just dropping a comment to say you should probably create a TeamSite group to share the workarea with, and then make the AD group a member of the TS group. This makes your content store somewhat more portable between networks, and avoids headaches if the AD group goes away. And as a possible beneficial side effect, maybe your AD group will show up when you try to add it as a member of the TS group?

I'm not sure why the group search is not returning anywhere near the right number of groups, those that are found in iwcache.xml, but I was able to hard code and save the AD group of each workarea correctly, and TeamSite accepted it. Non-masters (any user who is not the workarea owner) can now submit and approve content according to the workareas with which they are associated. Thanks to both who contributed to solving this issue. Have a greate weekend.
