Migrate branch contents from one server to other server

Hi,

I have 2 servers, one is teamsite 6.7.2 and other is teamsite 7.4.1. I want to migrate the contents from the specific branch/sub-branch, example : default/main/test/test1 branch from 6.7.2 version to other teamsite server 7.4.1. It is linux server. Could you please help me on this, how we can do the step by step process.

I have done in windows by freezing the whole store and copied the full store from one server to other server at the backend, but here the case is only I need to move the branch from one to other server in linux box. Appreciate your response on this as soon. Thanks.

Are you saying the source server is windows and the target server is linux? If so, the content stores are effectively incompatible and you'll need to recreate the content using a process that you create manually. Typically, the solution is to use OD to transfer just the latest version of the content to the new TeamSite server, and to keep the old server around in cold storage in case anybody wants to check version histories. You could painstakingly recreate the version history with multiple deploys+submits, but your timestamps would be all wrong.

If your source and target OS match, you can use iwmigrate and avoid that whole headache.

no my source and the destination both are in the linux servers.

Based on your answers to the questions - use iwmigrate - you can find information about it in one or more of the product manuals, by running the command with the -h flag and, most likely, through one or more KB articles on the Support site.

The bigger question is, are you really going from WIndows to Linux ?

If you do that, you have a very difficult job because you need to use OD to move the content and getting the history will be extremely difficult and time consumging.
