Refresh UI during the OD deployment

Hi All,

Currently we are using cgi/ipl files to trigger the deployment through OD,but there is no UI update till the deployment completes until that the CGI window is blank.

We want to update UI with the message " Deployment is in progress" during the deployment and once completed "Deployment completed".

Is there anyway to refresh the UI in cgi/.ipl. If not,is there anyway to get the variables like DCR name,vpath,datatype and user in jsp when we use jsp/java by using java multithreading.

can you please help to achieve this.

Is there a way to refresh a CGI UI? Absolutely - and there are probably many books and countless web pages that will explain how to do that if you bother to look for them.

Is it possible to get various pieces of information to use and/or display within the CGI UI? Perhaps, it depends on what you're looking for and the context in which the CGI was initiated.

The question I think you were really trying to ask:

Is it possible to provide real-time updated information about the status of a deployment that is running in a CGI UI? Probably not. I do not believe that OpenDeploy provides that kind o real-time information - and while you might be able to get something close to that by examining the source and/or receiving micro log file(s) associated with the deployment:

The output to the log file tends to be buffered, so it won't be realtime
You would have to figure out the name of the log file, which while do-able, is dependent upon a number of different variables that you'd have to know in order to use them for the information.
If you have a multiple-leg deployment, you'd have to be looking at multiple log files concurrently; while possible, I'm not sure it's worth the effort to figure out the code to do so within the context that this question is most likely being asked.

I don't believe any of the above questions / answers are distinctly different depending on the language being used to code the CGI - Java might give you some advantages in being able to interact with the OD service, but I don't believe that service provides the kind of real-time information you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply.

I just want to display "Deployment is running" message during the deployment.Once the deployment completed I would like to overwrite the previous message with "Deployment completed".

But my .cgi/ipl file not updating the UI until the deployment complete.Once the deployment completed then only it is updating entire UI.

During the deployment just it is displaying blank screen.

If there is any way can you please suggest me.

I'm not going to do your work for you - certainly not for free.

There's a thing called Google - try using it to figure out how to get a CGI window to refresh / update its information (note: You should probably also look into jquery and ajax too)
