Hello all..

Again, pardon my lack of knowledge on the LSCS/LSDS platform.

What I am trying to figure out is if a concept of mine is possible using LS.

Essentially what I want to do is build a definition library in a dbase.

(i.e.) A table with phrases, or words that also hold their definitions.

Apple | A small red fruit that grows on trees.

Then, when any of the content contributors utilizes the term "Apple" in the editor, a component will recognize the term and adjust the code to become a jQuery hover tooltip.

Similar to what you see on news outlets, or other various sites that recognize keywords, hyperlinks them, and displays mouseover content.

Is that a possibility through component building via LS?

Yea but.

Not certain that you would get much benefit from building it in SP/LS

I expect it would behave like the Omniture components, basically a 1 pixel component that has no display piece. What you would be doing is creating a JQuery component to drop on the page with SP.
