I have 5 datacapture.cfg, i.e 5 datatypes. In all the DCTs, the first 5 form fields will be same. What is the best way to design the DCT?

Presumably you mean for code reuse - yes?
Read the FormsPublisher documentation (and/or search this forum) for information about the "inline" directive.

You can use Visual Basic for all I care. Perl is *much* easier and quicker to develop with.

Have not tried Visual Basic approach, Can you list out the VB command to configure in inline, which I can start learning VB as well.

If environment is Linux/Solaris, cat XML_Path will be **much** easier compare to Perl
