Customer.jar file creation

Hi All,

I have one basic query regarding the custom java code. Normally we put all the custome java code under customer_src and run make_toolkit.ipl which creates customer.jar file under customer_out folder and updates the webapps/content_center/WEB-INF.

Can we create jar file with name customer.jar for all the custom java code file and put directly under webapps/content_center/WEB-INF and then reset teamsite GUI.

Please let me know your thoughts on this?

Perhaps you can, with some time and resources invested. Question is, why?

Through Ant, TS provides carefully tuned Application (re)building mechanism.
"make_toolkit" exposes some API to this process allowing you to customize TS,
add your own components and the like.

Sure, if you know what you are doing you can start tinkering with all these components.
Keep in mind though that if you bypass documented customization process you are on your
own. Your customization will not be supported, any subsequent make_toolkit run or
Patch/SP/New Version Installs may (probably will) override you changes and so on.

If you have a jar you want to build/include, name it something else and then put it in the appropriate customer location (livesite or not) and rebuild.

With the changes A/I is making using jboss, these libraries are being copied to multiple places. I have seen a customer try what you are referencing and when I looked at the different copies of the jar, I saw they were different. Which is why some things worked in preview and others did not.

If you want to have all your custom code in a single jar file, put it under customer_src/lib and then run make_toolkit.ipl on the customer_src directory (looks like you are using content_center from your post)

If you want to have a jar file for your livesite customization, put it under livesite_customer_src/lib, then run build.sh under livesite_customer_src.

The maketoolkit and build script will put your customized jar file into the correct places and restart the ui.
