Can't we push JS in Group Task or User Task in Workflow

Hi,

We are using TS 7.3.1, WFM based workflows.

Generally when we have transitions to user interventin tasks like(GroupTask, UserTask) all transition names appear as buttons in those tasks. If we want to have some alerts on click of these buttons(when choosing transitions), how we push that to GroupTask and UserTask without introducing a CGITask.

You'll need to do a bit of customisation.

Inevitably, you'll need to have the JavaScript execute on the task details page.

The files you probably want to modify are either:

task_details.jsp
task_details_properties.inl

You can get a copy of them from this folder: [Interwoven folder]\ApplicationContainer\server\default\deploy\iw-cc.war\ccpro\workflow

You should put your edited versions in this folder: [Interwoven folder]\TeamSite\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src\web\ccpro\workflow\

Then run make_toolkit.ipl from this folder: [Interwoven folder]\TeamSite\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src\ to update TeamSite.

Please note - the customizations proposed are NON-SUPPORTED.

If you copy those files to the proper location within IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src, modify them there and build them using make_toolkit.ipl the customizations become SEMI-SUPPORTED.

There is no fully-supported mechanism to do what is being asked for.

Thanks for the info, this gave good understanding how transitions are mapped to buttons in GT, UT.

This answer is correct for what i've asked.

However this way if we update the task_details.jsp it will impact all the GT, UT tasks if we impose script on buttons. My purpose I'll explain with example,

We have buttons like,

Approve for QA Team which will deploy files to PROD

Rollback for developers to rollback all the files in job to last working copies.

So we want to use confirm("Are you sure"); JS function on click of above buttons, to reduce accidental clicks.

So is there a to have dedicated alerts per workflow/ per buttons? or should I go with what you said and impose confirm() when transition lable equals to Approve and Rollback in the jsp?

Keep note that, we want to finish this scenario without introducing new tasks.

What you want, and what you need to do - may be two different things.

If you go the route that Zaarin indicated - you are going down an unsupported road that (to some degree) may invalidate your mainteance contract with HP and, as you pointed out, it affects ALL such tasks in ALL workflows.

If you add a CGI Task (owned by same user, with immediate="true" set), you have the ability to do what you want for just the specific task(s) in the specific workflow(s). The CGI Task could transition back to the task you just tried to transition from or to somewhere else - whatever fits your needs, and thus is more flexible in terms of the functionality you can derive from it than would be a change to vendor-code.

So, just because the idea of doing this on the back-end without adding another task sounds better - it doesn't necessarilly mean it is better...

We already solved that by introducing a CGI task/ or a simple User task. Just want to explore, is there a way to handle such simple scenarios within grouptask only.
