Suggestion on coupling PLC in to a WFT

Iam On TS 7.3.2, Solaris 5.10

 

I have this requirement , we have a Workflow (WFT) in place,  which deploys set of DCR's to its targets, now we are enhancing this workflow in such a way that Once the deployment to its targets are complete then we need to deploy these xmls to the LSCS servers. So I suggested to have the PLC workflow to get initiated once the deployment to the targets is success.

 

This will be  a nested workflow

 

Is this solution valid, is there any flaw in this approach if so please suggest.

 

My client doesnt want to distrub the existing WFT, so wanted to couple the PLC for deploying these xmls

 

for initiating this PLC, we are planning to have an external task that have iwmodelc to trigger the PLC , but the main catch is  how to pass the selected xmls to it ?

I would suggest replacing the deployment task in your current workflow with the one from the PLC. It has the capability of deploying content to static servers in addition to the LSCS piece, but in one transactional deployment.

 

The way you're doing it, you'd have to iwmodelc, then attach the files to the workflow object, then somehow manually calculate and set all the PLC job variables, then start the child workflow. That's a heck of a lot more work, and with a lot more room to get it wrong.
