Liferay Integration with Teamsite
SE123
Hello All,
I need some information about the design where we are planning to integrate teamsite for cms and liferay as an application server.
However I want to know about the pros and cons of this design as I still feel that making the entire website on IW teamsite and livesite will be helpful.
But still if any of you have done this or know about such integration and it's benefits then do share your thoughts.
Many Thanks.

Hello All,
Can someone suggest anything on this topic?
Thanks.

LiveSite is not a portal, no matter how iwov's marketing team tries to spin it. With the targeting product, you can do segmentation (rendering based on
generalized groupings
of users), but if you want to react to
specific user
profile information, you end up doing most of it in custom code. Also, portals (can) allow users to say which portlets/components they want, and in what positions, and collapsed/expanded by default, and etc etc.. LiveSite does none of that for you. Third, LiveSite is not designed to be a miscellaneous content aggregator. Yes, you can build components to read from databases or feeds or whatever else, but it can't even come close to what portals do (again, unless you feel like building it all yourself). If you're building a single interface for a bunch of backend apps, you're looking for a portal. LiveSite can be one of the content sources for a portal, but it's not the portal itself.
I suggest you carefully review your current and future requirements to determine whether you actually need a portal solution or not.
