Adding user through Teamsite admin tab

Hi All,
I am using Teamsite 7.1.0 on UNIX server. For adding new user to Teamsite we follow below process:

• Create new user on UNIX server.
• In add user window, select database as “OS” and then search for new user.

But search result says “no matches found – if user was recently added to your system, you may need to refresh the Teamsite Configuration s before user can be found”.

Through “Servers” tab I tried to refresh Teamsite configuration but it didn’t helped.

Now i am having below queries :

1. Do I have to reset the Teamsite server to get the newly added user in Teamsite admin window?

2. Is there any other process which automatically updates the Teamsite DB with the newly added user in OS? If yes then when it runs and is it configurable?

Adding one more point:

On running the iwuser command for newly added user i am able to find the user, its unix user id, unix user group etc.

Please help me to understand this.

Refreshing the server is generally as simple as running: iwreset (no flags) from a shell on the server.

If you're still having problems seeing the user in the Admin UI - you may need to restart jboss (this should not normally be needed - but I find that jboss occasionally gets messed up)

Today i am able to find the user in admin tab eventhough i have not reset the server. So i believe some process in teamsite automatically runs to referesh the user list.

Could you please help me to underatand about this process.

I have had this same problem in our Production environment, but not in our Dev and QA environments (7.2.1). Opened a support case and could never figure out why the users were not being found by the UI. I could add the users using the iwuseradm CLT, then could finish configuring the user through the UI. PITA.

iwreset -o refreshes the user cache. So run this after adding user account to server and user will show up in search of Add user screen.

In theory this should work. But it doesn't when you have this problem.

May be the requestor of this issue have resolved and moved on. Since we are on the topic dicussing, also throwing out this point to see if any of you guys have seen this and did this help?

What about cache flush through:

http://hostserver/iw-cc/command/iw.base.caches

User cache flush must suffice, if not group and role, before going to the shell.???

It might also have something to do with the number of domains you're TS server is trying to authenticate with - the more domains, the longer it may take TS to refresh its user cache (even if the user in question happened to be a local OS user - it might be storing all the information up from all the domains before actually refreshing the information in TS) -- this is just a guess.

I tried the suggested solution and below are the outcome:

• iwreset -o is working fine. After running iwreset command I am able to see newly added user in admin tab
• Tried http://hostserver/iw-cc/command/iw.base.caches but it does not worked. Flush User Cache before and after adding new user but its didn’t worked. Not sure why.

Could you please tell me how this user cache works?
