LicenseException: Bad host name

Hello,

We have installed 7.1 OD receiver on Windows server. After adding license file, we are getting error when we restart OD server. Here is the error message

SVR: ERROR: LicenseException: Bad host name. The host in the license key NC006TVA2 does not match the machine host nc006tva2

SVR: ***ERROR - Invalid license.

SVR: ***ERROR - License validation failed

SVR: Bring up of OpenDeploy server FAILED.

Can you help me to resolve this issue ?

As part of troubleshoot, we tried ping -a from this server and from local machine and it resulted to same IP address. We also tried ping -a ip and it resulted into same server name. Also updated host file with ip server.domain details but still no luck.

OD uses a different method of getting the hotname than teamsite uses.

There are instructions on how to get the information inthe OD install manual, basically a short Java program to run.

On Linux it looks at the /etc/hosts for the hostname. I do not remember on WIndows but I would start woth the windows hostanme setting. It appears to be case sensitive.

You can also just regenerate your license. Tell support and then there are no issues. That is often the easiest thing to do.

I checked the host file entry and it looks good. We will try to regenerate license and see if it works. Thanks for inputs.

Run this to get the proper information for the license generation:

The information required for requesting a single license activation for your
OpenDeploy server includes its host’s name and domain. You can determine this
by navigating to the following location on your OpenDeploy host: od-home/jre/
bin and entering the following command at the prompt:

java -cp $od-home/lib/odng.jar com.interwoven.license.LicInfo -f output-file -p OD
