LSCS and LSDS

Hi,

I am bit jinxed. I went through the PDF's but still confused. Can anyone please explain me the difference between LSCS and LSDS. Why both are used ?

LSDS is the LiveSite Display module. It takes pages, components, XSL etc and makes things look pretty.

LSCS is Content Services. It allows you (or LSDS) to query Idol from a web service for all of your (typically DCR or extended attribute) data.

You will always need LSDS. Depending on Product features you would like to use, you may or may not
need LSCS. In addition to what Nipper already mentioned, you will need LSCS for content Targeting,
Site personalization, things like that

Actually no. I have a customer who does not use LSDS but uses LSCS. They have a custom JSP UI that queries LSCS. That being said, 99% of the time people will have LSDS first.

Thanks, I know. I did not want to clutter the simple answer.

Sure, if you do not generate/use any proprietary LSDS format like *.page or if you reverse engineer
it and use your own Application Service to parse/render these assets, you will not need LSDS. That
said, if you use *LS* at all you practically always will need LSDS.
