Attaching ALL files in a workarea to a workflow via New Job

After going through 20 pages of search results, I have to give in and ask directly.

I have a workflow in which I want to update one workarea from another using an UpdateTask (TS 7.4.1).

Regardess of what is or is not selected and even if the source is emplty, I want to update the destination workarea from the source.

How can this be done?

I really thought there was a postnig here that addressed this but I can't find it.

Basically, when the job is started from New Job, can I remove any files and specify "." as the files to be say in a Preprocessor task?

I think maybe, rather than trying to find a convoluted way of using the UpdateTask, just use an ExternalTask that calls the CSSDK methods that do this (or a PERL script that uses the iwupdate CLT).

As @rpoulin indicated, you would be better off handling this with an External or URL External Task - or just writing a custom menu item CGI to perform this operation via either Java / CSSDK or Perl / CLTs.

The reason being, the Update Task is specifically designed to just update the files attached to the task from the "srcarea" to the [target] "area" - and you want to do all the files - which it wasn't intended to be used for.

Sure, you could write a script or program to attach all the files to the task so that the updatetask would do what you want, but if you're going to write a script or program to do that - you'd be better served to write it to just perform the desired operation directly rather than trying to set things up so that you could then use the update task.
