How to do role assignment using commandline in TeamSite 7.2.1?

I want to know this because I have to do it for bunch of users at a time.

If you are doing migration use this script to achieve
OLD Box
/iw-home/bin/iwaccess export-permission-entries /tmp/permission.xml
New Box
/iw-home/bin/iwaccess import-permission-entries /tmp/permission.xml

Or Prepare list of user have to give access on each branch in xml format
use the below command to import
/iw-home/bin/iwaccess import-permission-entries /tmp/permission.xml

IMO, the best way to handle role-assignment is via groups - preferably TeamSite Groups, but OS Groups will work too - and try to avoid assigning roles to individual users.

As has been stated (in a couple of the responses) iwaccess is the CLT to use to associate users and/or groups to roles. Run the command without any arguments to see the list of sub-commands. Run the command with a sub-command and no other arguments to get the usage information for that sub-command.

The export-permission-entries (and, to some degree, import-permission-entries ) sub-commands make sense if you are applying permissions from a 6.7.2 or newer server - or if you want to replicate the role assignments from one branch on a 6.7.2 (or newer) server to another branch on the same server. You run the export-permission-entries, edit the output file to contain just the branch designation you want to handle (even if it means changing the vpath directive in the clause to match what you want) and then use the import-permission-entries sub-command, most likely with the '-clear' option.

Groups can be handled at the command line with iwgroup

Without question, with the exception of Masters, roles assigned to groups and not users should be the norm

And most companies have too many Masters.

Thanks for the replies.

I have a set of users. Those should have Editor or Author roles. And they belong to different workareas in different store.

Is there any speedy way to assign the roles?
