File Unlocking Issue

Hello All,

We are facing weird issue for File unlocking with helpf of TPL file.
In one of our TPL, there is a code written to unlock the output file(.html file) with help of "/iw-home/bin/iwunlock $file_name".

It seems that same command is able to unlock the file from Linux server console but unable to perform the same inside TPL file. I have even tried to add delay of couple of seconds but no luck.

I hope you are not trying to unlock the same file what tpl was trying to generate, are you?

Most likely it is a permissions/impersonation issue.

A TPL is executed from the client on the server, running as me. If my login does not have permission to unlock, then it fails. If impersonation is not set correctly, even if I do have permissions, it may fail.

Who owns the lock ?

Check the logs, there may be an error in there. Then also put some debugging in the TPL to collect the output of that command and start to do some digging.

Yes, as per requirement we need to unlock the same file which is getting generated by TPL.. Let me know if it is not possible..

What is the error you are getting?

Are you sure the file is locked when you go to unlock it - iwunlock has a nasty habit of generating an ERROR when the file you go to unlock is not currently locked - but you can code for that.

No Error.. same unlock command working fine from command prompt and unlocking the file but not working from TPL.

Does TPL supports "unlocking the output file(generated by same TPL) and that to without submitting it(once).."

You can run almost any command from tpl (which are supported by Teamsite). There can be 2 scenarios (Possible 3) in this situation where you logic has to work appropriately.

1. Check for the Output file being existing before, or its your first time generating the file, You logic varies depending on the scenario.

2. If this particular file is generated by an other user and he holds the lock, in which case your unlock works perfectly.

3. Someone might have submitted the file using the workflow in which case it is in lock and you need to unlock it.

You need to analyze and give us more details of what you are trying to do and why you are trying to do this (The exact requirements as given to you.)

Please post the TPL code where you unlock the file.
It seems to me you must be doing something wrong if file doesn't get unlocked and you don't get an error.
