Environment: TeamSite 6.7.1, OpenDeploy 6.1.1, Solaris 10 SPARC server
We have a TeamSite server that is currently isolated for security reasons. We have removed one of the four content stores and now are required to do a secure delete (wipe) of the freed blocks on the disk.
Directions have been provided to us for using a utility called 'shred' but the provider cannot say how this will work in conjunction with TeamSite. The directions call for mounting the affected file system with '-nologging' before starting the utility. fsync() is to be done after each overwrite. The use of the mount option 'forcedirectio' may also be required.
What concerns should we have about using shred under the current circumstance? Should TeamSite be running or stopped during the 'shredding'?
Any help/advice will be appreciated.
