How can be make the search not to index the editions and historical data?

We have TeamSite & Search on same box.

Details::
TS 6.7.2 Linux.
Search 3.1.1 Patch 9040

TS Search is taking lots of space, we want some tweaking on the search so it doesn't use that much space.

if Anyone has some inputs , please provide.

iw.index.markpartial.duration=

set above one to -1
