Ediiting DCR

1) When I am trying to edit a DCR, it asks to attach an association. I tried associating wordpad in DDE application field. But it does not work. So in which field do I associate editor ?

 

2) When I am editing with wordpad, I am getting it displayed as follows

 So why do I not get "<" and ">" signs in here and rather this confusing code. How can I get to see "<" and ">" signs here, so that DCR becomes clear ?

1) It sounds like something has happened to the Extended Attributes (EAs) on the file.  A DCR should automatically open in FormsPublisher.  Any other "regular" file should open via Launchpad where it will try to associate the file type with a particular application.  Typically you do not want to edit a DCR in a text editor.

2) You're seeing the escaped HTML code.  The HelpText field must be a Rich Text Field (VFE or TinyMCE), which is automatically inserting HTML markup as opposed to just plain text.  That's why you're not seeing the < and > symbols.

 

You probably need to find out what happened to the Extended Attributes on the DCR that you are trying to edit.  Or at the very least, reassign the EAs using the iwextattr CLT so that the DCR opens in FormsPublisher again.
