OpenDeploy and TeamSite on different servers

TS6.7.2, Win Server 2003, OD6.2.0

When I have to modify and config files for TeamSite, I have to RDP on 10.43.67.82 and if I want to modify config files for OpenDeploy, then I have to RDP on 10.53.78.89 (These IP addresses are not real).
That means TS and OD are located on two different servers. Isn't OD supposed to be on same server as TS ? If they are on different servers, how will OD be able to pick files from TS store ? How will TS workflow trigger a deployment, if OD is on another server ?
Now again, when I logon to TS server, I see OpenDeployNG directory there too. So, what kind of OD is this ? If I have to modify and OD files, then I have to use another server ? What does OD dir on TS server do ? It looks like this OD is not used as there are on odbase or other required config files. But its confusing, thats why I am asking.

You need to have OD base server running on the TS server. It should deploy to the other server (which is running in the receiver configuration). Anything else you should ask whoever set this up.
