UI Customization

We may be required to do UI cuatomization. This customization will be for CCStd and CCPro as well. I will be required to add a column to display user ID who modifies file in CCPro.

In CCCStd, I will be required to create a window to show where user is currently working. (This separate from the one available by default)

Please let me know, which user guide will have details about customization ?

1st, the CC-STD UI is being deprecated in favor of the TeamSite UI. Neither work awesome on 7.3.2

There is a TS UI Cusomtization guide, please get that from support and you should be able to figure out some plans.

Is the OOTB "Modified By" column not sufficient? What would you be doing differently?

Actually, I will be required to add a employee ID of the user doing modification.

Thats why I need modofication.

What platform (Windows or Unix)?

The "easy" way to do this (from the TeamSite perspective) - is to add the Employee ID to the user's GCOS field in /etc/passwd or LDAP or similar - since that's where TeamSite picks up the "Display Name" for each user and thus you would not have to write any custom code.

Beyond that, you'd probably have to write custom code since it is unlikely that the employee ID is a field that would automatically be available to the UI to display in a column - this would mean that the UI would take a potentially significant performance hit since every time it goes to display the list of files (that includes the last-modified-by name and such, where you want to also display the employee id) would have to get the last-modified-by information and then perform a lookup on some table or similar, to then display the employee id in a custom column of the list.

If you absolutely need a way to look up someone's employee id from within TeamSite, I think a custom menu item for which you pre-select one-or-more files, that would then perform that lookup informaiton and present the list with the extra column within a custom UI window - would probably be the most efficient / easily maintained solution.
