External Task Call...

I am trying to do a simple workflow model with a call to external task. Attached herewith is the workflow model screenshot.

My external task never gets called in any of the transitions in this model. Can someone please help me figure out the reason?

OK - Strange, but I am sure I am missing something...However, I am able to make the transition to come to my external task from Attach Dependencies, if I put in a close_window.ipl task in between. Similarly, I have added one in the attach deployment task as well, just incase!

My new workflow model is as attached. The problem now, the attach deployment target does not start automatically after my external task call. It is waiting on User Input in the workflow. I have to go and manually "Start Input Task" for the Attach Deployment target to work and complete the task!

My questions are...

1. Why should I insert a close_window.ipl after the CGI task for a transition to be made to external task?

2. Why would not the Attach Deployment Target kick-off automatically, without manual intervention!

Obviously, I am missing something here and would appreciate a little help from experts out here.

1. There can be various reasons for this behavior. The primary suspect is the mechanism
you are using to actually perform CGI Task Transition. You'd have to debug it. Note also
that however you do it, it is your (CGI Code developer) responsibility to make sure that
final CGI Window gets closed.

Take a look at [thread=27424]this thread[/thread]. I've listed some supported CGI transition mechanisms there, it may perhaps help.

2. CGI Task will never run in "immediate" mode right after External Task.
Check older (WFT, not WFM) Workflow manual, it clearly states what conditions must be met
for "immediate" mode to work.
