Role "Update workarea"

I would like to limit the "get latest" button on the TeamSite (7.2) GUI to only a select few of my power users.

If I remove the "update workarea" role from most people will that do it?
Will that do other things I may not want?
The TS Admin manual doesn't say anything about what each role permits/authorizes in detail.

I assume some of your branches are non-SP enabled

correct - but what does that have to do with anything?

You can still do a get latest on a SP branch. It would have the effect of replacing all the work-in-progress with staging...(whoops). I'm trying to prevent that from happening by the "less than informed user community."

Never tried it. But you should be able to use your new role in roles.xml and allow access for only that role. Not certain if you have to create a new button or if you can repurpose the existing (again you should be able to)

Anyone with that role (and no other roles) should be able to make changes to content, start a workflow to get it approved etc...

They should never be allowed to revert back or get latest. There are two roles that look promising: "revert file" and "Undo Changes"

I could go through the hassle of trying it out but that's not a simple task. I was hoping someone would know how to prevent "Get Latest" from being available through Roles.

Haven't done it - but I think you're on the right track, and I think you probably want to exclude both of those operations from this new custom role.

You'll still have to test things out - but that's pretty much always the case.
