Find TS Version from server

I am confused between two environments. One is TS672 and other is TS741

1) I can find TS version from "About" tag in TS UI.

How can I find TS version by accessing server on OS ? Is it in any config file ?

2) If I want to find URL for TS UI from server, will that be configured in any config file on server ?

Try the iwversion CLT

The URL is most often simlified to the hostname of the server - e.g.: http://your-teamsite-server

If TeamSite is running on that server, on the default port (80), that will be sufficient to get you to the login page / GUI.

When I am accessing TS741 from UI, I am getting error message "No such user"

Why am I getting such an error ? Does it mean that I have to be added as a user in TeamSite first ?

I am looking for iwadduser command at "iw-home/bin" location, but its not there. Is there a way to check at back end, if I am added to TeamSite as a user ?

Yes, you (or the account you're using) needs to be a registered TeamSite user before you can run most of the commands in IWHOME/bin

You can check IWHOME/conf/roles/tsusers.xml if you want.

You can edit it too - but be careful if you do.

There's an iwuser and an iwuseradm CLT - I recommend the latter as it is a bit easier to understand (run it with no arguments to see usage information) - however, like the other commands, the account running it most likely needs to already be a registered user.

Is iwuseradm OR iwuser clt can be used without being registered to TS ?

2) This prompts one more question. How can installer, who is first time installing teamsite CLTs, as no one will be registered in TS when TS is being installed

The installer is either Administrator (Windows) or root (Unix) - and those accounts are automatically made registered TeamSite users (and Masters) - and can therefore run the CLTs and/or login through the GUI to add other accounts.

If I can run iwversion clt on backend, does it mean that I should be able to access TS UI ? OR Access to TS UI is a separate access than tsusers.xml ?

How can I get access to TS UI now ?

Assuming you added yourself to tsusers.xml correctly, you either have to wait a bit or run the iwreset utility (or stop/start the iwserver process) to force TeamSite to refresh its cache of registered users - then you should be able to login to the GUI.

If you're on Windows - you need to make sure you set the Domain information correctly on the login page before attempting to login with userid / password.

I can not run iwreset on server as role is not authorizing.

I Stop and Start the TeamSite service, but still I can not access TS UI.

What do I need to do ?

Find someone who knows what they're doing to help you out. If restarting the service doesn't help it means you probably messed up the modification to the tsusers.xml file. You could try to modify it again and restart the service again - perhaps you'll get lucky - but ultimately it helps to have someone with experience able to look at what you are doing and what is happening.

You could also try contacting HP Support...

First iwuser element (anjan3) is made by me for myself. Second iwuser elelment (test_clp) was exiting one.

What can I mess in this ? I modified tsusers.xml with iwuser (anjan3) and then Stopped and Started TS service.

Is this everything I am required to do OR is there anything more on top of this ? All collegues are on vacation and I need to resolve this.

I can run iwversion (which I was not before modifying tsusers.xml)

Any idea, why can I still not access, if I have already done what was required.

I have Admin privileges on WS8 R2.

When I add myself as a user in tsuesrs.xml, what role am I assigned ? Do I need to configure role also for myself ? If yes, where will that be ? I checked tsroles.xml, but it contains roles only and no users. Can I add myself to tsgroups ?

Since you didn't make yourself a Master, you won't be able to access anything within TeamSite unless you already have assigned roles on some branches.

You don't seem to know too much about the product - perhaps you should get your company to pay for you to go through a TeamSite Administrator's class?

The forums are not intended to be a substitute for formal training and reading of the manuals - and what you're dealing with right now is pretty much covered by one or the other or both.

Person with master access and responsible for implementation of TS has left organisation, new user has admin access on OS (WS8) and needs to do admin job but is not having master level access on TS (any access) , how can he get that access ?

I am not looking for rraining here. We were given in house training for TS development. Now I am trying to figure out access issues.

You need a user with Master access.

That person can then add users, assign them roles on various branches, etc.

Since we already went through the tsusers.xml file - you should be able to figure out how to grant someone Master access.

Whomever that is should spend some time reading the TeamSite Administrator's Guide to gain familiarity with the commands and options that they will have avaialable to them.

So you mean, if I grant myself master access in tsusers.xml, I should be able to use iwreset ?

Will this solve acces issue ?

But this change takes effect only after iwreset is run. And my current role does not allow me to run iwreset.

Will restart of TS service, make my master role effective ? Definitely I should try this andthen post result. But since my remote server acces does not work, I am posting before hand.

Can you have an admin bounce JBOSS or the box itself? Your change will take affect on a restart

The changes to tsusers.xml should take effect after 10 minutes if not sooner - even without running iwreset or bouncing the services.

I have made changes to tsusers.xml

Does adding myself to tsusers.xml, grant me access to TeamSite UI OR does UI access still need to be granted separately ?

On the OS, I am aded in Administrators Group with all access privileges on compiter/domain. But when I am using iwuseradm OR iwuser to add myself on TS, I am getting error "No such user"

When I am already registered as a user in Admin group on OS, why am I getting such an error ?

Will access to Administrators group not work ? Do I need to be added as a User on OS and not only in Administrators group ?

Try the following (substitute a different userid since you already added yourself to tsusers.xml):

c:\> iwuseradm add-user D2-BFG\anjan3

if that doesn't work, try:

c:\> iwuseradm add-user D2-BFG\\anjan3

If you are a registered TeamSite user but unable to login to the UI, it means that your IWHOME/etc/iw.cfg is probably not set up correctly. Read the TeamSite Administrators Guide, look for information regarding "domain_list". One you get that fixed, run iwreset -ui, wait a few minutes, and then try to login to the GUI again.
