MediaBin 8.1 - Web service call crashing server.

MBPW32.exe process is crashing/fault service , While trying to retrieve a file using RetrieveFile webservice call.

This is happening when that particular asset is checkout or not having download permissions.

Server should through a valid error message to cliekt like it used to do in 4.6.2 webservice (like doens't have acces to Request object message). But it's not happening in 8.1 and MBPW process is crashing, which is making asset server to restart automatically.

Please suggest to fix this critical issue.

Sounds like you should open a support case to get that patched.. but couldn't you just update your code to check permissions before attempting to retrieve the file?

Thanks for reply, i too thought about it. But, i can't able to find any webservice method for to check asset permissions, also we use legacy webservice.

Ah, well that might be part of the cause then. IIRC, the old webservice didn't seem to have any concept of asset perms -- it only had container perms.

old webservice with 4.6.2 works fine and throws proper error message when there is no download permission, the issue is with the 8.1 MB version.

What happens when the asset is checked out (locked)?

We have this issue with the checked out assets. Wondering if the patch they provided fixed this issue also.
