Integrating mediabin with other CMS

Hi There,

Did someone tried integrating Media bin with Adobe CQ5? What are the drawbacks in doing this?

1. user may end up login two interfaces?
2. User experience will be lost
3. Duplicate copy of data will be in both CMS and DAM

Please throw your thoughts on integration option and how to overcome above difficulties.

You can, but why? CQ5 has its own DAMS functionality, which actually isn't unlike Interwoven's. The MB web services allow you to do pretty much anything that the MB <> TS OOTB integration can do, you just have to rewrite the whole UI portion. The downside is that you'll never be able to get your integration to the same level as what you get in pure CQ or pure TS+MB because the majority of the hooks just aren't exposed to you for customization (at least not without hacking). Your user experience will thus suffer (by how much is up to you, but at least a little) because you'll almost certainly have to introduce a few additional screens or steps that would not otherwise have been there.
