Configuring iwat
deepikaBNYM
Hi,
Can somebody clarify me whether registering iwat for an event involves only execution of the CLT in the command line or does it also involves configuring in the iw-home/local/iwlocal.cfg file ,
Following is the CLT I executed ,
./iwat CreateWorkarea "/web/soft/iw-home/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /web/soft/iw-home/TeamSite/httpd/iw-bin/R7.ipl"
The R7.ipl has the code to update a log file in the same location , the code works fine and writes to the log file when executed in the command line directly , but does not work through the iwat , tried creating a test workarea and checked the log file, was not updated.
Whereas the iwlsat command lists this trigger as below
ID: 5051 "CreateWorkarea" /web/soft/iw-home/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /web/soft/iw-home/TeamSite/httpd/iw-bin/R7.ipl
Could Somebody help me on this.
Thanks
Deepika

All you should need to do is what you did. If it's showing up in the iwlsat output, it should be registered properly. Do you have your script writing anything to a log to ensure it's even running when you create a new workarea? What is the script supposed to be doing? Perhaps the script needs its permissions set differently? When you run it is different than when the event system runs it.

Hi smith,
Thanks for your reply.
And I have given , 755 access to the ipl and 777 access to the log file.
I have attached the ipl. Can you please have a look into it.
Thanks
Deepika

open (FILE, '>>R7.log')
When iwat is running, what is the home directory ? Probably not where you think it is
change to this
open (FILE, '>>/tmp/R7.log')

Hi Nipper ,
Thanks a lot for your correction , the path specification of the log file was the issue , I have rectified the path , and it is working now.
Thanks
