Multiple Components Submit

Hi All,

I have a requirement where I have a few components that take end user inputs ,or you can say they are forms.

Now Business wants to integrate all those components as per their requirement while creating a page, which will actually be visible as a single form in look & feel to the end user.

so I need to remove the submit functinality from all the components and there will be a single component with submit & Cancel button: which will submit/clear data of all the components.

So in short for the end user, look & feel wise it will be a single form with a single submit button, but internally it will contain multiple components.

Now my question is that can we achieve this using page controllers, which will give the contents of all components to my JAVA and then I will store it into DB.

Or, can someone suggest better way to implement this?

We do something similar using DCRs.

Essentially the "component" builds forms based on the DCRs. Each DCR defines fieldsets, inputs, validation etc.

The component then can reference a single, or multiple, DCRs and creates one large form from it.

Thanks for your reply, yes that is an option but in our case we already have components, earlier single component was used in a page but now user wants to put multiple components.

So I am specifically looking a solution which specifies the submission of all the forms through a single submit button component.

Submitting multiple forms at one time would, unless I miss what you're trying to do, require the use of some Iframes or AJAX calls. Unless you can merge all the forms into one submission.

You can change the submit to call a JavaScript function to take each field of each form and construct a new form then submit the newly build one. Other than that I'm not sure how you can submit multiple requests at once.

Semi-convoluted hack idea:

Conceptually it makes sense - the devil (in the details) would be what the overall output looks like if you use the FormStart, FormField(+), and FormEnd components on a page -- I'm assuming they would be placed one after the other in a single vertical column.No idea if it would actually work, but it might ...

I have suggested an alternative way, but I am stuck in that too as I want to include xsl dynamically, can I achieve that through Datum.

I have already seen few forums related to XSL but couldn't find any solution.

I am using this approach because I don't want to include 50 XSL in component code as only 1 at a time is going to be used, so I want to pick it dynamically.

Any Suggestions.
