Due date in Job/Task

Hi,

There's a field called "Due date" associated with a workflow job or task properties. A workflow user can easily change the job/task properties and select any date there using the calendar widget provided OOTB. Can someone tell me what is the purpose of that due date? Does it render a task or job inactive after that date has passed or is it just for display purposes in the workflow tab?

Tried RTFM but couldn't find anything relevant.

Basically it is just a display piece - until / unless you code something in your workflow (or some workflow-monitoring process) to actually utilize it. Without explicit coding on your part, the only functional aspect of it would be to sort rows of information in the Jobs and/or Tasks list within the workflow tab.
