Can we insert the pages(.page) created through LiveSite components and templates into DB?

Chandra_M

HI All,

What is the format of the page(.page) created through LiveSite components and templates and can we insert that page into any relational db using Data Deployment and also can we render the pages on runtime by getting the values from DB ?

Thanks,

Chandra

Should be easy enough for you to open a page file and notice it's XML.

As for your DB requirement, it doesn't seem to make any sense. You may not have formulated your scenario correctly?

Hi Rpoullin,

Thanks for the reply.

My requirement is, once the page get generated through Livesite components/page templates, that page xml want to deploy to database. And then a .net application reads the content from db and displays the content in the .net applcation.

Can you? Probably. Why is another question. This is one of the most asinine designs I have ever seen.

The good news is that you will have work for life trying to write and maintain this.

Nipper, you must have spent a lot of time around Smity recently - you're starting to sound like him ;-) [not that I disagree, but ...]

It would more be the content of the DCR's you want to see deployed in a DB ,rather then the sitepublisher pages. For this , you can deploy using datadeploy the content into a DB.

For the purposes of a good design, you should restrict only page layout stuff in the sitepusblisher page , not content. Prefereably put content in a DCR ,and add a DCR component on your page.

This would however mean you will need to customize the out of the box workflow for your livesite branche(s).

For this to work , you also must have an opendeploy instance running on your server with an activated datadeploy module. This might impact your licensing.

As to importing raw xml (such as .page files) ,and setting this up in automated way with teamsite workflows could be indeed a way to make some good money. Work for life indeed assured.
