Workflow modeler 7.4.1 deploy task

I have two questions... kindly advice if one post is enough for both of them Smiley Happy

I want to deploy only the selected files when i run the workflow which has only a deploy task. Is it possible?

Also my teamsite the structure is

default/main/POC/BUILD_POC/WORKAREA/BUILD_AREA/custom_customer_src/xyz/com

default/main/POC/BUILD_POC/WORKAREA/BUILD_AREA/custom_customer_src/abc/com

default/main/POC/BUILD_POC/WORKAREA/BUILD_AREA/custom_customer_src/pqr/com

So when i select a field under xyz/com, then i want the value xyz, which i want to use in DNR script. Is this possible?

Yes you can do #1 easily

#2 is basic part of OpenDeploy, very easy as well

I take it from your example you want to deploy the code from customer_src and then do something like run a make_toolkit ? I do that all the time. Though there are some better approaches.

For #1 - read the WFM manual regarding DeployTask - as long as you provided it a deployment configuration file that takes certain named parameters for things like the source area and filelist, it will automatically provide that information for those parameters (and you can provide additional parameters if you so desire)

For #2 - using Perl or Java, it should be trivial for you to extract part of a path as a separate string and then provide it as a parameter to be passed in through OpenDeploy to the DNR script -- or to parse the information within the DNR script (since I believe the DNR provides access to the original source area path information - though its been a while since I've written a DNR to parse the in-memory XML data). If the in-memory XML doesn't contain that information, then you have to do it at the point at which you are planning to execute the deployment from the workflow - if you're using Perl - it should be trivial to update (or copy & modify) any script being used to perform the deployment to do as you wish; If you're using Java - if it's already custom code, it should be easy; if it is OOTB code you would have at least two choices: (1) write your own custom code to take its place, or (2) make sure you have a job or task variable that gets set to that portion of the path you want to hold onto and that you use the OpenDeploy Substitution Variables on the DeployTask to provide it as a parameter - and that the deployment configuration file looks for it.
