Advanced Search - Customize attribute list

Hi,
We are using Teamsite 7.4.1 search. We have successfully tried to add the custom EA in the advanced search attribute list drop down. By default, the drop down has a long list of attributes. I have two questions on this.

1. We could not understand the use of following attributes in search ?

• TeamSite/Templating/Primary DCR
• TeamSite/Templating/Primary Document Type
• Indexed
• Author
• TeamSite/Metadata/Content Type
• IndexedDate
• OwningAreaId
• TeamSite/Metadata/ContentCategories
• IsDeleted
• ast_path
• BranchId
• Title
• AreaRelativePath
• FilePrivateId
• ArchiveId

 

2. Is there any way, we can delete/remove some attribute from the dropdown?

I asked this exact question of IW Support and most of these attributes are useless - they couldn't even tell me what some of them were for.  We received instructions for paring down the list.  You'll need to modify your search_custom.xml file.  Here's what ours looks like.  It only displays the attributes we list in this entry:
