Can't get SSI to work in SmartContext

Hi,

We installed TeamSite on Solaris. The web server we had installed on port 80 (which is now on port 81) is iPlanet. I configured the iPlanet port 81 server to handle server side includes as the TS documentation said and it works great if you go to http://ourhost:81/dir/index.htm. However, when you go to preview the content from your workarea, it seems to be going to http://ourhost/iwmount/.../dir/index.htm and the SSI isn't working there (maybe because that's TS's iw-webd server?). How do I get it to work for preview?

Although I can't answer specifically your question above. Take a look at IW_include. It doesn't require the web server for file includes on http request. The include is generated at the time of generation from the DCR. This may not meet your needs, but it is an option.

Did you install the nsapi redirector module (which is in the manual as well). Just because you enabled SSI in iPlanet does not mean that virtualization will work without the redirector module.

Also, how are your server side includes being referenced? Are you using virtual includes (the only thing that the plugin can remap) or file includes (which the plugin will not be able to remap).

Check your iPlanet error log to see where includes are being looked for.

I followed the directions in the TS manual: I enabled SSI in iPlanet and installed the iw_rewrite.so (or whatever it's name is) module as well as put the Init/NameTrans stuff in obj.conf. The iPlanet server (port 81) is actually working properly... It's the TeamSite web server preview (port 80) that's not working.

And we aren't using templates, but HTML files, so IW_include isn't a solution.

all iw-webd does when you request previewing of a web site is pass allong the request to iwproxy which will then request it from the customer web server.

If you are able to get the server side includes to work directly by going to iPlanet on port 81 this indicates that there is a problem with either the proxy or the plugin configuration. If the plugin is correctly installed you should see a message to the effect in the error log I believe. You will also see why ssi's may be failing.

Again... all iw-webd does for previewing is pass requests on (iw-webd only serves up TS gui requests and passes everything else on to the proxy or to the customer web server).

Well, it seems to be working now for some reason. After I restarted the server again (even though I did this before), the proxy seems to be doing the right thing now.

if you had just made changes to the iwproxy config you may have needed to restart iPlanet as the plugin will not be restarted when you restart the proxy.
