There was an error writing the site map file

Hi,

We're encountering an issue with some of the sitemaps in our install where when we modify a node (add/remove/edit) we get the following message:

"There was an error writing the site map file."

We've checked some logs but haven't seen anything useful to help resolve the issue yet.

Has anyone seen this issue before? any pointers on which log files to check would be appreciated.

Is the node residing under the Primary? i.e. is it one of the parent nodes? IF not try creating a different parent node and try creating child nodes under that. See if that works. I am not sure abt the logs, try logs in the Application Container.

That message can mean just about anything. You'll get that if the sitemap is locked by another user. You'll also get that on versions of TeamSite where the dependency manager couldn't save files that have a registered dependency against a file that had been deleted (though you should be fine in TS7.2.1). Perhaps try writing to the file (add a space in the XML) via the IFS as the user experiencing the problem.. At least that way you can exclude locking and other file-is-not-writable problems, and figure out if it's a TeamSite functionality thing or a normal permissions thing.

My crystal ball says you're on TS 7.2.x and your sitemap has a broken association (references a path that no longer exists). This is a bug of sorts in that version of the platform, so the real answer is to upgrade. You can also fix this manually by recreating the broken path, saving your sitemap (to remove the dependency, since your actual content should no longer have that reference), and then re-deleting the broken path.

If I'm wrong, post more details (in a new thread) about the actual error you're getting and your environment details.
