Layout is basically the canvas where you decide the structure of the page. It can be 2-column, 3-column or whatever.
If you want to see the current layout of your page/template then you need to edit your template/page and it will give you the information about the page type, layout type and so on.
If you want to see/make your own layout then you will have to go to iw folder which is being created when you create a site . Here you can make your own layout and take it to your page once you sumit it from that location.
