Modify ccstd to remove a toolbar button

Hello,

We have TeamSite 7.3.1 on windows 2008 R2 x64 and in the standard view, I'm attempting to remove the "Publish Workarea" button(Part of the Global toolbar). I can't find the process or method for accomplishing this in the TeamSite 7.2 User Interface Customization Guide.

I've even tried to use css to hide the button, but modifying /web/base/styles/custom.css doesn't seem to have any impact.

Any help on where to start is greatly appreciated.

Yes, the button in the Global Toolbar. Currently, out of the box, it displays: "New Content Item", "New File", "Import", "Publish Workarea", then the search form.

Any ideas on how to modify that area?

In Interwoven\TeamSiteUI is the iw-teamsite.war that is deployed to E:\Interwoven\ApplicationContainer\server\default\deploy\iw-wcmweb.ear\iw-teamsite.war

The customizations are in Interwoven\ApplicationContainer\server\default\wcmweb\toolkit\teamsite

Copy the files, for the views you wish to remove the button ,
from
Interwoven\ApplicationContainer\server\default\deploy\iw-wcmweb.ear\iw-teamsite.war\WEB-INF\conf\ui
to
Interwoven\ApplicationContainer\server\default\wcmweb\toolkit\teamsite\customer_src\etc\conf\ui

The publish button is in the Global Toolbar section.

After amending excute Interwoven\ApplicationContainer\server\default\wcmweb\toolkit\teamsite\ant deploy

This will deploy the Teamsite UI and merge your changes.

The above advice is BAD in that it suggests you go through unsupported methods for making changes to the toolkit.

The proper place to make such changes is in IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/... and IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/...
When done making the changes, you need to run the appropriate command for rebuilding the toolkit (all of this is documented in the User Interface Customization Guide).

The method I described came from an autonomy consultant, who spoke to an engineer on how to customize the TeamSite UI. As the "documentation is currently being written".

This is for amending the new TeamSite UI that came with 7.3.1, not ccstd or ccpro.

Ah - well you should have qualified that - given that the title on the thread is with regard to "ccstd" and that your response did not indicate that the information was based on that otherwise unmentioned information.

It's still "bad" in the sense that there's a near 100% guarantee that the information provided will not be the officially supported manner to customize the UI in the long-run - it's simply the current work-around for the as-yet undocumented (and perhaps un-thought-of) process.

Thanks for the replies. I don't feel as bad now as I dug through the documentation and couldn't find solid reference to accomplish this task.

So, will attempt to use the semi-documented methods of the UI customization guide. How ever I'm looking for guidance in the proper syntax for removing the button.

It appears that the file to edit is:
Z:\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src\etc\conf\customer\ui_custom.xml

In looking at the example in the \customer_samples_src\...\ui_custom.xml I see examples of how to remove certain links. I'm attempting to follow that example I have the following inside my ui_custom.xml:

The ID values came from:
Interwoven\ApplicationContainer\server\default\dep loy\iw-wcmweb.ear\iw-teamsite.war\WEB-INF\conf\ui\home.xml
But not clear that I'm using the correct syntax to remove the "Publish Workarea" button from the Global Toolbar.

I understand that running:
\iw-perl\bin\iwperl

\Interwoven\TeamSite\bin\make_toolkit.ipl
will add the modifications to the project.
